 An Easter Egg Hunters dream.

So what Kind of Game is it?

This was very hard to interpret because I feel its a game that we have never seen before. Is it a SIMS type computer game?  Is it a series of Chess games? Is it a series of Backgammon games? How bout a Tarot card game?  All of these have been hinted on in the show.  We have a Character named "Lenny Sims". Chess boards in many episodes. The famous backgammon scene with Locke and Walt - Two Players, Two Sides, One is Light , One is Dark.  Astrology and Tarot Cards.

LOST loves to throw us "red herrings"  tipping off a Chess game and such, when in fact its more then that as there are more dynamics going on then just a Chess game. its hard for me to see that its JUST a Chess game.  Chess doesn't have the concept of being "hit" as backgammon does and its clear that the game in LOST (and other shows) employs a backgammon style of "hit" resetting characters back to their original state. But at the same time, Its not just a Backgammon game either as the game in LOST also makes use of "Sacrifice" and it seems there is a "Checkmate" move on a designated game piece (the king) allowing a victory of the current match. And it seems that Characters are getting some sort of points (possible Karma points) giving them more "power".

I'm leaning that LOST is a strategic concept game that we have not been introduced to. The more game related behavior I recognize, the more I really feel they will release a LOST computer/board game after the show.   the game is Not an actually SIMS game, but contains SIMS like avatars. Not an actual Chess game, but contains Chess like Strategy and behavior, such as "sacrifices". Not an actually Backgammon game , but contains Backgammon like behavior, such as "hits & blots". Not an Actual Tarot Card game, but involves Characters/Game Pieces that Tarot like cards are played on. A game that each character represents a Tarot Card or a Zodiac Sign Card.

1st, the game is not just tailored to LOST,  I'm thinking it has to be an universal compatible game, that other shows can employ. That means the game pieces are not labeled "Jack", "Locke", "Jacob" etc. The game pieces have fixed representations that each Character is assigned to, such as the Major Arcana of Tarot.

Im leaning that the available game pieces are the Major Arcana of a Tarot deck or possible the 12 signs of the Zodiac as there is a strong relationship between the two. Each Major Arcana card has a corresponding Zodiac Sign and element, AIR FIRE EARTH WATER. Each Character is assigned to a Major Arcana or Zodiac card before the game begins. Thus, every Character has a Character Card, Major Arcana or Zodiac Card.

Turn based:  each player takes turns making moves.

Two Players: I also suspected it to be a 4 player game, but I'm going to put my faith in the huge statement made by Locke in season 1, "Two players, Two sides, One is Light, One is Dark", and say that the game is indeed made up of Two players. My thinking is the Two players are outside the game, playing the game. (Jacob and MIB are actually major game pieces inside the game). So if it is indeed  2 players playing a game  and we have 4 groups within the game, with 4 different agenda's, then the LIGHT player controls the 2 LIGHT groups and the 2 LIGHT gods and the DARK player controls the 2 DARK groups and the 2 DARK gods.  Could be a scenario that each player controls One "god" at a time.

otherwise, it is indeed a 4 player game and each god, in the game,  is a representation of each player (outside the game).

4 gods:  (within the game) Each group is ruled by one god.  And this is where the surprise of 4 gods emerges. I suspected 2 more gods to join Jacob and MIB, due to the 4 Elements and 4 aspects of Fate , Free Will, Science and Faith.   Each god along with their corresponding group are governed by one of the 4 Elements - Fire, Air - Water - Earth.  . Each god uses different combinations of Fate, Free Will, Faith and Science.

4 Groups: Each of the 4 gods has their own group of combined game pieces.  The 4 Groups can best be pinpointed by noticing their agendas , as there are 4 different agendas.

- Strives for the Island for god Jacob

- Strives for the Island for their own needs , not for any god.

- Strives to get off the Island , wants no part of it, for their own desires, not for any god.

- Strives to get off the Island, wants no part of it for the god MIB's needs.

Game Pieces (the Characters): the game pieces are the Characters in LOST, this includes the survivors, the Tailies, the Others, Dharma Initiative, everyone. Each Game Piece has a Zodiac Sign applied to them at any given time and the Zodiac Signs can change throughout game play. Each Character/game piece is in a Character Role at any given time and they too can change throughout game play.

More details are provided on the Charater Role Page , but they include Hero, Advisor, Pilot, Translator, Guard, Cook, Princess, etc

Trust:  The game pieces in each group form a bond or a "Trust" between them, allowing them to work together as a group.   its possible that characters/game Pieces may be able to "Trust" another Character from another group in certain situations. If you watch, it seems there are actual rituals that has to happen in order for the "Trust" to take effect , such as , hand shaking, grabbing hands,, hugging, kissing, exchanging names or giving food or drink or by simply bringing up the word "trust".

Guarding or Protecting There seems to be a system of Guarding going on.  When Characters are away from "Safe Havens or Sanctuary's" they are subject to being "Converted" or "Killed" by the opposing side. A Character will need to have another Character with them to "Guard" and protect them. Just by the other character being there, allows the protection.

This aspect of a single game piece being vulnerable very well may have been borrowed from backgammon. In backgammon, a single "checker" on one point can be "hit" by the opposing side and placed on the "bar" and basically restarts that game piece from the beginning.   A single Vulnerable game piece is known as a "blot" in backgammon.

"Live together, Die alone".    "You got my back?"

Hits (as in Backgammon hits):  In Season 1 Ep  , Walt and Hurley was playing Backgammon.  Walt says "your blacks can't get in". Hurley has 2 black pieces on the "bar" and he has to roll to "re-enter" them.  I think something like this can occur in the game in LOST.., "blots" (single/alone vulnerable game pieces) being "hit" (attacked/taken prisoner and subdued or knocked unconscious) must be "re-entered" by the player.   resulting in the actual game piece being "reset" to their the beginning of the board and thus we see the character "reset" to their original  "state" of the beginning of that match.

In Season 1, Charlie was "Hit" when he went after Ethan, Charlie ended up hung in a tree, unconscious.  Jack and Kate revived Charlie and the result is Charlie revived and reset to his original state at the beginning of the game, Charlie starts acting like he did before.   I also think Claire being abducted was a representation of Claire being "hit".   When Claire returns she is reset and acts very differently , also has loss of memory.

Sacrifice:  It is clear, that a Sacrifice is used in the game.  Sacrifice is when a game piece is Sacrificed in order to benefit another Character from the same side  .  Sacrifices are commonly done in Chess and Checkers. There seems to be different kinds of Sacrifices; LIFE, SERVICE or LOCATION Sacrifices.

--Life Sacrifice: a Character's Life can be Sacrificed to save another Characters Life or for another Life to be born. Ex.  Boone died so Aaron could be born.

--Service Sacrifice: is when a Character has to perform a certain deed or Service in order to advance another Character.

--Location Sacrifice: is when a Character has to "go to" a location or is banned from a Location in order to better another game piece.

Points:   The game involves some sort of points. there has been many hints of points throughout episodes.  Locke tells Charlie "you got a point there"  etc   Anytime that the word "point" or "points" is spoken, it is directed toward a single character. That makes me think each character tallies up points of some sort, These Points very well could be "Karma" points for each character. Perhaps the more Karma points a Character has the more power and influence that game piece has in the game.  Maybe has influence on dice rolls during certain events etc.

Converting: Its possible the game involves being able to "convert" game pieces from LIGHT to DARK, DARK to LIGHT,  similar to the game of GO

The strongest evidence for this is when Sawyer and Juliet were living with the Dharma folks.  For 3 years, there have been no confrontations in Dharmaville , until Jack , Kate, Hurley , and Sayid show up. It is then that game pieces in Dharmaville begin to be converted into opposing game pieces. Sayid converts Ben, Ben burns a building inducing fear and converting other Dharmaville game pieces. Sayid shoots Ben and forces Kate to take action, thus she is converted. Kate talks Juliet into it, thus Kate converts Juliet, and then Sawyer is converted. The scene where Kate talks Juliet into helping shows Juliet blinking her eyes and seems like a different person.

Safe Havens, Camps, & Sanctuaries: Is Certain areas that the opposing side can not harm the game pieces. Such as the Beach Camp, The Cave, Dharma Stations. etc   The Main Players (Jacob or MIB) cannot do harm in the Camps.  Game pieces that are alone and away from Sanctuaries are subject to being harmed or converted. Also, I believe that the Camps are very much Element related...........

FIRE camps:  will have a "Camp Fire", establishing a camp and area of protection. "The Beach camp" was a FIRE camp.

WATER camps: will have some source of water...pond, waterfall, etc.  I believe "The cave" in season 1 was a  "water camp", it had a water source in it. Other WATER camps:  The Hydra station, "the looking glass", the Temple.

Treks: is when a group of  game pieces (2 or more characters) are moved outside of "Safe Havens" in the open jungle, lead by a "Trek Leader" towards an objective or another safe haven. The Trek Leader carries a hiking stick (Moses stick?). I believe the Moses stick serves a huge purpose, it provides protection from harm from the opposing side to the entire group. Notice in every Trek , someone has a hiking stick and when someone in the group carries it , they cannot be attacked.

Mulligans: Way back in season one, Hurley hinted on the idea of a "Mulligan" when he was playing golf. I believe this was a hint that their is the use of a "Mulligan" in the overall game . Certain moves can be discarded? Ana Lucia made a Muhstake.

"your blacks cant get in"

Emotions: Fear, Pain, Anxiety, Guilt, Stress, Love, Forgiveness, Anger, Courage,

The Game consists of a "Best of" 7 Matches

I believe that the the two players are competing in a best of 7 match's in the game.  Most every match covers an entire season, and  awards the the winner a victory for that match.  Each match builds off of the previous match and is a  completely different  and independent game, thus we have a "RESET".  The LIGHT and DARK players are playing the best out of 7 match’s  (or 1st to win 4 match's Wins the Game).   The Matches can also result in a Tie or Draw.

Why I think it’s a best of 7 match format?

LOST will tip us the format and structure of the game by comments of characters when they are playing board games or sports themselves in the show;

--- there was a hint of a “best of 7 format" when Hurley was playing Connect 4 with a fellow patient in the Santa Rosa Hospital in S4E1.

--- Another hint of  a "best of" format was earlier in S3E17, a best of 2 out of 3 format was hinted on when Jack and Sawyer was playing ping pong. This format would have been current, when both LIGHT n DARK sides had 1 match a piece in the previous 2 seasons. (LIGHT won in season 1 and DARK won in season 2).

---In Season 6 Episode 6 Sundown,  a very blatant scene of Hurley and Miles playing Tic-Tac-Toe and the game resulted in another Tie.  I believe this was to show us that the Matches can result in a Tie or Draw.

RESETS: the Resets is basically the beginning of a new match. Characters have new roles at the beginning of a RESET.  this is why we see them behave differently.

Parallels of Horus and Seth

Jacob and MIB are  parallel’s of the ancient Egyptian mythologies of Horus, the sun god, and Seth, the god of chaos.

Horus denoted by Jacobs Tapestry

the Eye with flanking falcon wings depicts Horus (simular to the depiction at the top of Jacob's tapestry) . And that specific symbol (with the flanking falcon wings ) depicts Horus at battle with Seth (chaos).

 Jacob and MIB

Jacob àHorus: Jacob (and any form or representation he takes) is a representation and parallel of the ancient Egyptian god Horus, the sun god of order.

MIB àSeth: The MIB (and any form or representation he takes) is a representation and parallel of the ancient Egyptian god Seth, the god of chaos.

---Also, Alana and Bram are always on Jacob’s side.

S5E14  Eloise - "Destiny means that if one has a special gift, then it must be nurtured and your gift Daniel is your mind"

S5E14 - Daniel "We think, we reason, we make choices, we have Free Will. We can change our Destiny."
